Some news I’m really pleased to share. A number of my travel articles are now available as travel guide apps, on both the App Store and Google Play. To mark the launch, I’m giving three of them away free for two weeks.
What Are Travel Guide Apps?
They’re my blog articles, turned into apps. Each one has the full article, an interactive map and a walking route. Once you’ve downloaded it, it works offline. No Wi-Fi needed and no roaming charges either.

Why I Like Having a Travel Guide on My Phone
We’ve all been there. You’re in a new city, your battery is at 5% and there’s no signal. An offline guide solves that. You download it at home, and the map still shows where you are when you’re out exploring. It also saves a lot of tab-hopping. Everything you need sits in one place, from what to see to where to eat.
The Three Free Travel Guide Apps

These are free in full from 19 October to 2 November:
- Things to Do in Brno, Czech Republic. A university city with good food and a relaxed feel. Worth a look if you fancy somewhere quieter than Prague.
- Romsey: A Delightful Journey through History and Charm. A small market town in Hampshire with an abbey, old streets and plenty of tea rooms.
- Discover the Best of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Big skyline, busy markets and a lot of street food. This travel guide covers the highlights without the overwhelm.
When Does the Giveaway Start?
It starts on Monday 19 October and ends on Monday 2 November. Download your apps within those dates and they’re yours to keep. Don’t leave it until the last day, as it’s easy to forget.
How to Get Your Free Travel Guide Apps
It only takes a few minutes
- Visit the GPSmyCity homepage or search for the app title in your app store.
- Choose the travel guide you want.
- Tap download before 2nd November 20206
- Open the app at home and save the map for offline use.
A Few Tips for Using Your Travel Guide App
Download everything before you leave home. Save the offline map too, so you’re not caught out. Then follow the walking route, but don’t feel tied to it. Some of my favourite finds have come from a wrong turn.
More Travel Guides to Explore
I’ve also published apps for Athens, Budapest, Agadir, Winchester, Dubrovnik and Barcelona. They’re not part of the giveaway, but they work the same way if you’re planning a trip.
